Industry Background

There are several types of microfouling that pose a constant problem to heat exchanger tubes: biological fouling (due to biofilm & slime), precipitation fouling (due to crystallization/scale), particulate fouling (due to sedimentation of suspended solids) and corrosion fouling (due to galvanic action).

Technology summary

Driven by the water flow through the heat exchanger, the mechanical movements of appropriately proportioned, sized and weighted Brush Balls bounce and rotate with high velocity, constantly scrubbing and removing the dirt and scales in the heat exchanger tubes.

The foulings in the tubes are the bushed and flushed out by these balls as they dynamically scrub and work their way along the tubes. Due to the removal being a physical and mechanical process and Brush balls being smaller then the internal diameter of tubes, it is not subject to any pressure loss across heat exchanger, the variability of fluid chemistry and flow velocity.
