Technology Overview

This relates to a proprietary bio-refining technology to produce value-added products from waste biomass.

The innovative technology allows for the separation, fragmentation and purification of complex biomass into three high grade commercial products (cellulose, pure native-form lignin and sweet liquor), with less generation of unwanted by-products and low costs.

For every 2.2 tons input of wood chips (based on pine sawdust), the process produces one ton of cellulose, 0.42 tons of lignin and 0.78 tons of sweet liquor. After fermentation the sweet liquor is converted to 0.25 tons of protein or can be used in the production of cellulosic ethanol and other products.

The environmentally friendly process combines a unique blend of chemicals and low-pressure steam in a closed-loop process which emits no emissions or pollution.

The process can utilize any vegetation as its bio-fiber source including waste-wood, pine beetle-killed trees, sugar cane, grasses, husks etc.

The process plants are modular in design with easy scale-up and offer excellent return on investment, with costs to build and operate considerably lower than other processes. It can be set up either as a standalone operation or as a front-end, pre-treatment process to many wood-related industries. It is estimated that a 50 ton per day plant processing pine sawdust will produce a 30-35% return on investment within the first 2 years of operation.
