Advanced Hydrogel Wound Dressing
Background
• Wound dressings can serve multiple purposes, including creating a protective barrier, promote blood clotting and healing, as well as absorb exudates.
• Moist (vs. dry) wound care has become the standard of care in wound management, including in acute wounds1,2 as evidenced by the increasing use of hydrocolloid and hydrogel dressings over films and traditional gauze dressings.
Technology Overview
This is an advanced wound dressing solution that uses proprietary UV crosslink and drugloaded
hydrogel technology.
The wound dressing comprises:
• Hydrophilic polymer hydrogel (HEMA; also used in making contact lenses)
• Elastic TPU fiber
• PU film
The hydrogel is ultra-absorbent (40 times) and has been clinically proven to maintain optimal moisture balance to promote wound healing.
Coupled with hydro-balance technology, wound exudates are quickly absorbed and dispersed within the hydrogel layer to minimize maceration and pain during dressing changes/removal.
