Technology Diplomats’ Innovation Resources Matchmaking Action 2017 Held Successfully

Technology Diplomats’ Innovation Resources Matchmaking Action 2017 aiming to bring together superior innovation resources from across the globe for technology-driven development is held on May 25 in Beijing and attracts technology diplomats of various countries to seek cooperation with Chinese partners. This high-end branded event triggers technology information mobility throughout the world in all aspects from government’s support policies to science and technology innovation capacity and resources.

This event is hosted by Beijing Technology Exchange & Promotion Center and China International Technology Transfer Center, co-hosted by Beijing Beiguang Electronic Group Co., Ltd., organized by ChinaWorth Global Tech Consulting (Beijing) Co., Ltd. and provides Chinese enterprises with access to international S&T resources and information. Officials from embassies of Canada, Poland, France, New Zealand, Portugal, Australia, Italy, UK, Japan, Finland and EU and representatives from research institutes and enterprises in China are invited to the event. Mr. Guo Rui, Vice Director of Department of International Cooperation, Beijing Municipal Commission of Science & Technology welcomes all countries to Beijing for S&T cooperation and exchange. “We will continue to gather high-end innovation resources from across the globe and support high-level S&T innovation of China and foreign countries. Beijing will continually optimize policy and environment, attract high-end innovation talents to start business and invest as required by establishment of STI centers across China, introduce top STI talents such as chief scientists, adopt more flexible policies for foreign venture capital investment, and encourage venture capital firms to participate in commercialization of S&T achievements in Beijing.”

In addition to “bringing in” and “going out”, “we help domestic technology, products, standards and brands establish an international presence, tap into international markets, and foster competitive local transnational corporations while encouraging advanced overseas technology to enhance matchmaking and cooperation with domestic enterprises in China”. Mr. Guo hopes that this well-known “Technology Diplomats” event facilitates cooperation and exchange in technology transfer and promotes joint development.

During the following innovation resources matchmaking activity, diplomats of various countries introduce STI policies, resources and tendency of their respective countries and encourage attendees to get involved in international S&T cooperation with vivid S&T projects.

Dr. Laurent Bochereau, Head of Science, Technology and Environment Section at the European Union Delegation to China, arouses the interest of Chinese organizations and enterprises from the very beginning. “The Horizon 2020 Program is a global large-scale research program following the open principle, and is open to all scientists around the world. We will provide necessary fund and expect to have China in the program. Participation with your own money is also welcome.”

In fact, this program should have been officially initiated in 2014. According to previously published information, research projects are generally focused on people’s livelihood, for example projects in connection with smart city and intelligent transportation, intelligent upgrade of industrial manufacturing and service for the aging population in the future. After several years of development, the Horizon 2020 Program has become a significant breakthrough of cooperation in technology transfer between China and Europe and serves as an important platform of S&T cooperation.

 “We have a national research project which is released every five years, and some of its key areas centering around social challenges and publicly seeking solutions coincide with the Horizon 2020 Program.” Professor Plinio Innocenzi also “markets” Italy’s “specialty” hardly for attracting interested enterprises and scientists to participate in more quality projects.

She said, China and Poland maintain stable relations in many fields and she hopes that both countries expand cooperation into new fields.

During the S&T cooperation project roadshow in the afternoon, Canada, IVL Swedish Environmental Research Institute, Digipolis Oy (Finland), Hemp Investment Group Co., Ltd., and Guangzhou EZlife Sci&Tech Co., Ltd., among other, present a series of advanced science and technology projects in the fields of wastewater treatment, clean and environmental protection, and biological detection and actively connect with relevant enterprises from Beijing, Chengdu, Shandong, Tianjin, Hubei. Intent to cooperate is declared for a number of projects in a warm atmosphere.

S&T innovation is an effective way to promote S&T progress and talent cooperation and exchange and deepen opening up and cooperation of nations and regions.
