2.* Technology brief:
It is well known that polymer-based OLED emitters demonstrate cost and manufacturing benefits when incorporated in optical displays in place of standard LED technologies. However, current blue poly-based OLED emitter materials suffer from remarkably short lifetimes compared to the red and green emitters. The present technology provides a novel long lasting (stalbe) blue emitting, polymer-based OLED material.

3.* Description of the technical advantages:
These novel blue-emitting, polymer-based OLEDs demonstrate a substantial improvement in durability, with demonstrated colour consistency over time, over previously known blue-emitting polymer-based OLEDs. These new polymer-based OLEDs will have a dramatic impact on improved lifetime of polymer OLED displays.

4.* The sustainability of the technical advantages:
Optical display products incorporating these new blue-emitting, polymer-based OLEDs will have longer lifetimes than those manufactured using existing blue-emitting OLEDs. Consequently, the present technology has the potential to have a significant positive impact on waste generated from optical displays.

The technology is in an early stage of development and a full performance analysis is required in order to more accurately quantify the scope of the market opportunity.

6.* The current development situation and progress of the project:
The polymer-based OLED materials have been synthesized at bench scale and are undergoing a full evaluation of suitability for use in optical displays, using industrially accepted display based test metrics.

7.* Prospective market value/business value:
This new material will enables higher quality polymer-based OLED displays that are less expensive to manufacture and demonstrate an improved lifetime over current molecular based OLED displays.
