Challenge (Project)
Pultrusion process of thermoplastic composite
Description
As melt viscosity of thermoplastic resin is generally greater than 100Pa, fiber glass is unlikely to be well impregnated. Therefore, the key point of preparation of thermoplastic composite is how to well impregnate long glass fiber. Intensified cable core is based on traditional thermosetting composite pultrusion process, with a tensile strength ≥1100MPa. While intensified cable core made from thermoplastic composite can have a tensile strength ≥1600MPa. Our challenge is that glass fiber cannot be well impregnated with LDPE and other thermoplastic resin and product made through pultrusion process fails to meet requirements for technical parameters such as tensile strength.
Technical Parameters/Requirements
Tensile strength ≥1600Mpa, tensile modulus≥50Gpa, elongation at break ≤4﹪, minimum bending radius (10D, 20±5℃), with no burr, crack or bend and feeling smooth.
